We were lucky to catch up with Gregory Kopp recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My company’s clients, including small non-profit organizations and the leading diversified international family entertainment and media enterprise based in Los Angeles are the driving force behind my own positive work ethic. Their energy and enthusiasm are infectious and translates to our exciting work relationships that are inspiring, fun, and ultimately successful for all involved. As a result, our company has been recognized with multiple business management consulting awards and praise from the business media.

As a result of this industry recognition, it has allowed my artistic and creative talents to blossom even further with my writing and subsequent publication of the exciting and sweeping “Kopp Chronicles” series of historical fiction novels. These novels are derived from my own immigrant American family’s history and intermingle romance, mystery, and action-packed thrilling historical elements to entertain and intrigue readers worldwide.

The “Kopp Chronicles” series of novels have received recognition from readers, authors, and international publishing entities via social media and award programs, including for example, “The Heiress in Kent” (volume 5) of the “Kopp Chronicles” which received glowing reviews in “Publishers Weekly”; and by Readers’ Favorite website, respected by renowned publishers such as Random House, Simon & Schuster and Harper Collins. The “Kopp Chronicles” novels have also been nominated for “Reader’s Choice Awards” and been recognized for “Book Covers of the Month” multiple times. The “Kopp Chronicles” series of novels are now available in major chain bookstores including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, Blackwells, Books a Million, Los Angeles’s own The Last Bookstore and other independent bookshops in 5 different languages worldwide. We are also excited that the Kopp Chronicles series are now available in Apple Audiobook.

I am also especially proud that the State of California public library systems added the “Kopp Chronicles” novels for their patrons to enjoy in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, Sacramento, Riverside County, San Bernadino County and many more libraries. They can be downloaded through a variety of digital platforms including Overdrive/Libby, Hoopla digital, Bibliotheca Cloud Library, BorrowBox, Odilo and Axis360. In addition to California and thousands of other United States public libraries, the “Kopp Chronicles” historical fiction novels are also available in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, South America, Africa, Australia, and Hong Kong with more libraries worldwide acquiring the novels every day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am excited for the next steps in my own and my company’s creative journey as we expand our publishing endeavors with the addition of my colleague and editor, Annette Czech Kopp’s, new fantasy and metaphysical series of novels “The Adventures of the Miso Mice”. This series introduces the reader to 5 very curious fantastical Miso Mice on their quest to find The Answer Book. The sweeping “Kopp Chronicles” and the whimsical “Adventures of the Miso Mice” series of novels are excellent candidates for translation to the screen by collaborating with creative minds to help achieve that vision.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My skillful use of social media marketing, supporting my readers worldwide in the use of digital technology, and sharing this knowledge with the writing community allowed me to maximize the social media platforms geared to my audience. My advice to writers is they should experiment with social media to determine which groups and readers cater to their particular genre. I have found the writing community on social media is amazingly supportive of new and emerging creative talent and will embrace novice writers with open arms.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I am overwhelmed or encounter writer’s block, which prevents me from writing my latest historical fiction novel, I overcome this by performing research and then developing an outline with any new and old characters from my previous novels and the historical events which I feel will interest my readers. I can then begin to envision how each of these character will interact, which allows me to escape my daily tasks and annoyances for a period of time. As I begin to write my stories, my characters will explain to my readers how these historical events affected their daily lives. If I become stuck again, I will perform additional research which allows me to understand how my characters ultimately overcome any difficulties they encountered. My advice to my fellow authors and beginning writers is to keep writing, as you never know if your ideas may interest readers without putting them down on paper.
